Why Lancastria?
(Yves Beaujuge, a stalwart member of our Association, describes what motivated him to research the story of the Lancastria.)
Since my early childhood, this tragedy enthralled me by its mystery and its silence. A boat of martyrdom, of sacrifice. Then, when I learned the scale of the tragedy, I asked myself many questions.

When I learned the history I became very interested and became deeply involved with the story. I met the people of Saint-Nazaire who told me of this catastrophe because they were present.
Then, with Internet I carried out much research and I appealed for more information through adverts in the local newspapers.
Christophe François contacted me to interview me for a report for television. Following from this I met my friend Mark Hirst. I have great respect for the work he has done and what its achieved and I also wanted to share my research so I created a website: www.lelancastria.com
Now I work so that this tragedy is never forgotten by the future generations to come.

Pourquoi le Lancastria ?
Depuis ma plus jeune enfance, cette tragédie m'a attiré par son mystère et son silence. Un bateau martyre.
Ensuite, lorsque j'appris l'ampleur de la tragédie, je me suis posé beaucoup de questions
Quand je connus l'histoire je m'y suis très intéressé et passionné.
J'ai rencontré des gens de Saint-Nazaire qui m'ont raconté cette catastrophe car ils étaient présent.
Ensuite, avec Internet j'ai fait beaucoup de recherches et j'ai passé des annonces dans des journaux locaux
Christophe François m'a contacté pour la réalisation d'un reportage
Ensuite connaissance de mon ami Mark Hirst dont je respecte le grand travail qu'il a accompli
J'ai voulu faire partager mes recherches donc j'ai créé un Website www.lelancastria.com
Maintenant, je travaille pour que cette tragédie ne soit jamais oubliée par les futures générations .
