Jack, Cuthbert

My grandmother had four sons. Dick, my father, Jack, Cuthbert and Bill. Jack was a Merchant Seaman and was sunk in the South Atlantic by the Admiral Sheer; he survived. Cuthbert was a Cunard Officer and was on board the Lancastria in 1940 when it was sunk at La Rochelle with the loss of over four thousand lives. Mr Churchill ordered that the loss of the Lancastria should be kept secret from the British public; the details were not released until 1945. My uncle lost his life going down with the ship.
